As Otay Ranch’s new cross country season began on the seventh of August, the family oriented and long loved Coach Valdez has officially resigned from the Head Coach spot due to personal reasons. However the lasting leadership of the Mustangs has been carried on by the known and well reserved Coach Perdio!

While it may seem that both Otay Ranch Cross Country and Track have hit a roadblock, returning assistant Coach Perdio, formerly known as Coach Noel, has taken up the challenge. The trusted and well known 2018 graduate/alumni has taken it upon himself to build the Mustang team and ensure that the previous Otay Ranch XC ideas will be preserved, rather than misused by an unfamiliar leader.
Even though Coach Valdez will be missed, Coach Perdio has guaranteed that this promising upcoming season will be no different than the others.
Many returning JV and Varsity Athletes are all very fond of Coach Perdio as he strives to make everyone better.
Varsity captain Ramon Ramirez states, “Coach Perdio will be the man to take us to a state Championship.” Aidan Sparks, another captain, has also expressed his greatest compliments to Coach Perdio. Coach has taken every single leader under his wing, warranting an excellent season where even new runners can persevere and enjoy themselves out on the field. With a new and improved schedule this year, managed by coach Perdio and the assisting managers, it looks to be that the races are more intuitive and organized. Races such as WoodBridge, CCA, and Vaquero have been all cut out.
