Steel Ball Run, the long-awaited anime and the 7th part in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series, had its first episode release on March 19th this year to great praise. The 47-minute-long first episode currently sits at a 9.7/10 on IMDB ratings, with 16k reviews. Fans, including myself, were ecstatic at the quality of the first episode and were hungry for more on the next Thursday, as many believed that it would be released in weekly installments. However, when March 26th rolled around, there was no Steel Ball Run episode 2 to be seen. The fans were in outrage. Many of them had waited years for Steel Ball Run to be animated, and for the episodes not to be released in weekly succession broke their hearts. The community online began to post wild and often nonsensical internet memes to cope, similar to the Jujutsu Kaisen community, which also posted nonsensical internet memes (dubbed “Lobotomy Kaisen”). Many of these memes included the image featured above of the protagonist of Steel Ball Run, Johnny Joestar, edited to appear similar to another meme called “King Von Anti Piracy Screen,” in which rapper King Von appears in black and white with red eyes to make him appear frightening.

Fans found the edited picture of Johnny Joestar hilarious and began commenting with the image on other videos, talking about Steel Ball Run, often commenting something along the lines of “Netflix, where is SBR?” along with it. This became a community-wide joke with people commenting under all of the Netflix TikTok account’s videos with this meme.

With all the jokes, it makes one wonder: when will the next episode of Steel Ball Run come out? According to another video of the Netflix account’s TikTok showcasing a trailer of episode 2, it is said to be released sometime in 2026. This is very vague and has led people to believe that it might be released in September. Personally, I hope that the next episode will come out sooner because if the rest of the episodes come out way later in the year, the hype around Steel Ball Run will die out somewhat. In the end however, it is completely up to Netflix as to when the next episode comes out, so all we fans can do is hope and pray.
