A new movie about Superman was released in 2025 and earned a lot of positive reviews. I watched this movie in theaters, and it was really good, and I enjoyed how positive Superman, played by David Corenswet, was. The movie introduced iconic characters like Clark Kent (David Corenswet), Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), Guy Gardner Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), and more. In this article, I will primarily focus on Superman/Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and Mr. Terrific.

David Corenswet was amazing at portraying a positive Superman character. Superman was originally a good-natured and optimistic character despite being from another planet.

Corenswet’s portrayal of Superman is different from Henry Cavill's, who was much darker. Despite the challenges he faces, Superman continues to look to the positive side of things and tries to solve issues he believes are harmful. I enjoyed how Superman was firm about his beliefs even when he realized that his biological parents were not who he thought they were. Despite being slandered by the people, he continues to help because he believes that it’s his duty to. My favorite scene was his speech towards Lex Luthor near the end of the film.

Lois Lane is played by Rachel Brosnahan, and she did a great portrayal of Lois Lane. Lois challenges Superman’s beliefs from a more human/realistic point of view, and she isn’t reduced to being just “Superman’s girlfriend”. She’s shown as an excellent journalist, and she isn’t afraid to go after Superman to save him, which shows her own bravery. When the Justice League hesitated to save Superman, she challenged them and decided to go after Superman himself, until Mr. Terrific decided to help Lois. I like how Rachel’s character as Lois was very strong and determined.

Lex Luthor is played by Nicholas Hoult, who is also known for his roles in The Great. I really liked his character as a complete Superman-hating man whose sole objective is to defeat Superman because of his own insecurities. He also had a lot of comedic scenes because of his hatred for Superman. Nicholas Hoult played Luthor very well, and I enjoyed watching him go bonkers whenever Superman beat/foiled his plans.

Mr. Terrific, a superhero, is played by Edi Gathegi, a Kenyan-American actor. Gathegi is known for playing diverse characters in movies and shows such as Twilight and My Bloody Valentine 3D. His role as Mr. Terrific was pretty cool, showcasing his ability to get things done with his knowledge of technology. His powers are unique as he controls devices. Gathegi’s acting as Mr Terrific was very natural, and he really portrayed the character well. Unlike the other members of the Justice League, he ultimately went with Lois Lane to save Superman, showing that despite his tough exterior, he does care about people.

Overall, I would rate the new Superman movie a 10/10. The message of the movie was that regardless of where we come from, we’re still just humans. I think that message is really important, and using Superman as a beacon of hope and a symbol of immigrants is something that can impact different communities positively, especially since Superman is a worldwide icon. I really enjoyed this movie, and I’m excited to see the next DC movies that are coming out.
